Ford tops Polk charts


Sales of the Ford Focus totalled 1,020,410 in 2012 according to Polk global market registration data making it the world’s best-selling vehicle overall.
Polk also confirmed the Ford Fiesta as the best-selling sub-compact car globally with registrations of 723,130 in 2012.
The Ford Fiesta and Focus are the UK’s one and two best-sellers providing the foundation for Ford’s UK car sales leadership which the company claims it has held for 36 consecutive years.

Fiesta and Focus UK sales in 2012 were 109,265 and 83,115 respectively.
The Fiesta was also the best-selling small car in Europe in 2012 according JATO Dynamics automotive data intelligence provider.
Market gains for Focus were driven also by consumer demand in China and the US. In China, registrations increased 51 per cent in 2012, with the market responsible for more than one in four Focus vehicles sold worldwide. Focus sales in the US were up 40 per cent last year.
