EU first quarter car sales rise 8%

Demand for new passenger cars in the EU in March increased for the seventh consecutive month, with a rise of 10.6 per cent in registrations.

However, in absolute figures, the total of 1,449,148 units registered marked the second lowest result to date for a month of March since ACEA began the series in 2003 with the enlarged EU.

UK leads EU charge in car sales growth

The UK is the blue-eyed boy of Europe as car registrations edge closer to those of Germany.

In 2013, the UK car industry registered 2.264 million vehicles, a rise of 10.8 per cent. Germany in comparison experienced a 4.2 per drop to 2.952 million vehicles.
