G&W Invests £5 million in machining capacity

Grainger & Worrall (G&W), which provides engine casting to Porsche, Aston Martin, Bugatti and McLaren, is to open a state-of-the-art, £5 million machining facility at its site in Bridgnorth, Shropshire.

Honda unveils F1 power unit

Honda has revealed a first look of the power unit currently in development for the 2015 Formula One (F1) World Championship.

Yasuhisa Arai, senior managing officer of Honda R&D Co., Ltd., who is heading the F1 Project, said: "Working toward Honda's F1 participation starting in the 2015 season, development of the power unit is entering its prime phase at our R&D facility in Sakura (Tochigi, Japan).”

Efficiency key to 2014 F1 - Mercedes

For 2014 the F1 motor racing fraternity has probably the greatest change in regulations in its history, according to Paddy Low, technical chief of Mercedes AMG Petronas, as he unveiled the new engine today.

“The headline is 'efficiency',” he said. “The fact that we can run a full race on 100kg rather than 150kg of fuel sends a great message about the technology we can deliver for Formula One - and gives an important message to the automotive world in general. It's not simply about the fuel saved per car on a Sunday afternoon, it's about the technology itself.”
