VW opens new Crafter plant in Poland

Volkswagen Group has officially opened its automotive plant in Września dedicated to production of the new Crafter. Is VW claims the plant Europes most advanced new factory of its kind.

LDV Maxus sets van sights on UK and Europe


Plans are in place to import 3,000 LDV Maxus V80 vans, made in China, into the UK where the design originated in 2000, when it was a joint venture between LDV in Washwood Heath, Birmingham and Korea's Daewoo.

VW lays Crafter foundation stone

The foundation stone has been laid for Volkswagen’s new plant in Września, near Poznań where the next generation Volkswagen Crafter will be built, with production set to begin in the second half of 2016.

Daimler mulls plans for next Sprinter van

Daimler AG will invest a combined €450 million to produce the next generation Mercedes-Benz Sprinter in two plants at Düsseldorf and Ludwigsfelde, but the German vehicle maker will build more vans in the US to increase its competitiveness.

Part of the new investment will be used to modernize the body shop, paint shop, and assembly line at Düsseldorf.

VW scores record UK van sales

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (VCV) has recorded its best ever half-year sales performance in the UK. 

A total of 20,907 light commercial vehicles were registered to the end of June, representing an 11.3 per cent increase in sales compared to 18,782 registrations over the same period last year.

VW to build Crafter van in Poland

The new Volkswagen Crafter will be manufactured in Poland from a new plant being built in Września, in the Voivodeship Wielkopolska region. The van will enter production in the second half of 2016 as VW decides to 'go it alone'.

With the new plant in the Voivodeship Wielkopolska region of Poland VW will be creating at least 2,300 new jobs.

Daimler and Renault in new van tie-up

Mercedes-Benz has created an air of some confusion over its future van strategy with Renault.

While on the one hand, Daimler AG and Renault SA continue to identify new projects together as they expand their global cooperation to include commercial vans made in Japan, in Europe the picture for Daimler’s large vans is less clear.

Renault's alliance partner Nissan Motor Corporation will supply Daimler with the NV350 Urvan which will be sold under its Mitsubishi Fuso brand in selected export markets.
