Mazda heading for record profits?

Mazda Motor Corporation appears on course for another record year after reporting an exceptional first half.

The carmaker posted sales revenue of ¥1.45 trillion (€10.5 billion) between April and September, up 16 per cent compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year.

Yamanouchi to leave Mazda

Takashi Yamanouchi is leaving Mazda Motor Corporation at the end of June after 47 years.

Yamanouchi is chairman of the board and representative director. The 69-year-old, who also served as Mazda's president and chief executive officer between 2008 and 2013, will be replaced by Seita Kanai, currently vice chairman and representative director. Yamanouchi ends a career at the unconventional carmaker that began 47 years ago.

Mazda posts record operating profit

Mazda Motor Corporation has just posted the highest operating profit in its 94-year history for the fiscal year that ended on 31 March 2014.

The Japanese carmaker earned a global operating profit of ¥182.1 billion* (€1.36 billion), a 238 per cent year-on-year increase and 12 per cent higher than the previous record (¥162 billion) set in 2008.
