Ford set to build more cars in Mexico

By 2018 Ford will have shifted production of its next-generation compact cars from its Wayne sited assembly plant in Michigan to Mexico in the next couple of years.

Ford Edges in new use for CGI engine blocks

Production volumes of Ford’s new 2.7-litre, twin-turbocharged V6 gasoline engine look set to blossom following the company’s unveiling this week of the all-new, second-generation Edge crossover vehicle at its Dearborn, Michigan headquarters.

Earlier this year, Ford unveiled its new V6 EcoBoost gasoline engine, the most striking feature of which is the use of compacted graphite iron (CGI) material for the vee cylinder block.

Ford launches all-ally 1.5-litre EcoBoost


Ford Motor has launched its latest EcoBoost engine – the new 1.5-litre gasoline unit which will be manufactured initially at Ford’s facility in Craiova, Romania. 

With the launch of the engine, Ford now has capacity to build 1.6 million EcoBoost engines annually. By the end of 2013 six plants across Europe, Asia and North America will be produce EcoBoost engines, triple the number in 2010.

Production of the four-cylinder 1.5-litre engine – the fifth member of the EcoBoost family – begins in Craiova later this month. Other manufacturing locations will be announced later.
