Nissan scores all-time Euro sales high

Nissan’s European sales in fiscal year 2015 (ending March 31st) reached 710,321 with Nissan sales in Western Europe of 621,910, an increase of 9.4 per cent on 2014 levels and an all-time high.
Nissan, with Datsun, recorded European sales of 737,501 units in FY2015, in line with 2014 sales. March 2016 sales totalled 95,720, again in line with the previous year. This marks the sixth consecutive year of market share growth since 2009 levels.
Nissan says its sales increased in all major markets in Western Europe during FY2015 with measurable increases in Spain of +19.3 per cent, Germany +13.2 per cent, Italy +8.8 per cent, UK +4.2 per cent and in France +3.9 per cent.
The brand’s European sales were bolstered by the launch of NP300 Navara pick-up (below) and the new longer range Leaf 30 kWh. The Qashqai crossover achieved sales to over 250,000 customers in FY2015.

The expansion of Nissan’s electric vehicle line- up is reflected in LEAF sales, which Nissan says leads the electric vehicle segment globally. Nissan sold 16,916 cars in Europe this outgoing fiscal year, a new annual record.
Nissan adds that it “is leading the way in important new technologies with much more to come both in electric cars and in autonomous driving vehicles - the future of transportation.”
Guillaume Cartier, Nissan’s senior vice president sales and marketing Europe, said: “We have a commitment to continue to bring more to our customers – more choice, more value and more innovative and exciting products.”
“Nissan stands apart from its class. We deliver quality and we continue to reinvent and break boundaries such as the new Nissan Micra which is launching this year. We are very excited about Nissan’s piloted drive Qashqai, featuring autonomous drive technologies, which will be coming to Europe in 2017,” he added.
This year marks the thirtieth Anniversary of Nissan’s UK plant in Sunderland which has produced more than 400,000 units for the sixth consecutive year.  Nissan produced 615,000 vehicles in Europe in 2015.
