Car parts maker set for expansion

Gestamp Tallent, in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, is improving its factory after receiving £3,750,000 backing from the UK Government's Regional Growth Fund. It will use the funds to improve its automotive components facility.
Formed initially as Tallent Engineering Ltd the company was taken over by the German steel giant Thyssen Krupp and became Tallent Automotive Ltd. Today it is better known as Gestamp Tallent.

Executives at Gestamp Tallent claim the financial resources will allow the chassis maker to create about 320 new jobs and buy robot welding assembly lines to increase production. The company is already a major user of robotic plant and equipment, including machines from Fanuc in Coventry..
Gestamp Tallent Ltd claims to be a world class design, developer and manufacturer of leading edge, innovative chassis structural and suspension products, body in white structures, modules and systems for the global automotive industry.
The company claims to have a global network of world-class facilities capable of manufacturing a range of body in white and chassis structural and suspension products strategically located throughout the world.
The company also notes that it supplies some of the biggest names in the Industry including: Bentley, BMW, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Jaguar, Land Rover, Nissan, Porsche, Renault, SAIC/Nanjing, Saab, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo
The company’s specialised products include: chassis: front and rear cross-members; front and rear axles; front and rear sub-frames; module and system assemblies; and upper and lower, front and rear suspension arms.
In the area of body assembly the company supplies body-in-white (BIW); painted body assemblies; oil pans; bumper assemblies; engine mount brackets; wheel hub and disk modules.
In addition to the facility at Newton Aycliffe, Gestamp Tallent has UK operations at Cannock, Fareham, Llanelli, Luton and Washington. The facilities at Luton and Washington are close to the Vauxhall van Plant and Nissan Motor manufacturing UK Ltd. As such it is more than likely that Gestamp Tallent is a feeder to both of these companies of components mentioned above.
