Tata Motors chief dies in fall

Karl Slym, 51, has been found dead after falling from his 22nd floor bedroom in the Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok.

Slym is reported to have been responsible for the Tata Motors car-making operations in India as well as Tata’s interests in South Korea, Thailand and South Africa.

Slym was head-hunted by Tata Motors. He joined the company in 2012 giving up the role of executive vice president of SGMW Motors China, a General Motors operation.

His responsibilities included overhauling Tata Motors’s manufacturing, sales and distribution operations.                       ∎
